All Classes Wajima Kiriko Taiko - 17/08/2025, 16:00-18:00

Wajima Kiriko Taiko - 17/08/2025, 16:00-18:00

£12.00

VENUE: Great Glen Village Hall, Main Street, Great Glen, LE8 9GG

This festival rhythm is from Wajima City on the Noto peninsula in Japan. In the local festivals this rhythm is used alongside giant wooden towers, or ‘kiriko’, which are paraded through the streets. If you want to see where this rhythm has come from, here are highlights from the festival in 2019 –https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Bt_DCP6wg

It is played in the usual upright style but it is a slightly more difficult rhythm than we normally teach our beginners so prepare to work hard!

There is a car park next to the village hall on Ruperts Way, if this happens to be full there is street parking nearby but please do not park directly in front of the hall as this blocks the road.

Adults Only
