Miyake - 15/08/2026 12:00-14:00

£16.00

VENUE: Fleckney Village Hall, School Street, Fleckney, LE8 8AS

This rhythm is one of the most well known taiko rhythms in the world. It is originally from the island of Miyakejima, 180km south of Tokyo, and has been popularised by groups like Kodo, leading to variations being performed by many taiko groups around the world.

Miyake was developed as the music for the Gozu Tenna Sai festival where drummers play the rhythm all day (see a snapshot here)! It can be quite physically taxing when played properly, but in our workshops we won’t be working you quite this hard - so come and join us and learn this exciting rhythm.

There is a car park next to the village hall. If this happens to be full there is street parking nearby but please make sure to park considerately of our neighbours.

Adults Only
