CAMBRIDGE - Gearing Up - 7 Jun, 5 Jul, 2 Aug, 6 Sep, 12:00-14:00

£55.00

VENUE: William Collyn Community Centre, Wellbrook Way, Girton, CB3 0GP

This course is aimed at those of you with slightly more experience who are interested in learning more complex pieces over a longer period. Alongside the usual drills and activities we will spend four sessions learning a full piece and developing a greater understanding of the nuances involved.

Matsuri: 7th June - 6th September

A matsuri is a festival in Japan and there are hundreds of thousands of these celebrations across the country, each with its own purpose to honour or thank the gods. Taiko is a common feature of these festivals with many areas developing their own individual style and rhythm. The piece that we will learn in this course is created using rhythms commonly found in various matsuri across Japan, played using a diagonal (naname) stance, and full of energy and fun.

Adults Only
